Bronny James, son of NBA star LeBron James, scored his first NBA points for the Los Angeles Lakers in a 134-110 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Evan Mobley led Cleveland with 25 points, while Donovan Mitchell added 24, pushing the Cavaliers to their fifth consecutive win and their best season start since 2016-17.
The historic father-son duo of LeBron and Bronny James, aged 39 and 20 respectively, made headlines last week as the first to play in an NBA game together, debuting in the Lakers’ opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Reflecting on his debut score, Bronny shared, “It was insane, way more than I expected. The chants really got me—though I kept a straight face, it felt incredible, especially here. It was a special moment.”
LeBron was equally moved by the milestone, commenting, “Seeing him make his first NBA basket in this arena, close to where he grew up, is an unforgettable moment.”
With just over five minutes remaining in the game, Bronny executed his first NBA basket with a step-back jumper from 14 feet over Tristan Thompson. He missed a three-point attempt in the game’s final minute, while LeBron finished with 26 points, six rebounds, and six turnovers.
Elsewhere in the league, Pascal Siakam hit a decisive three-pointer with 7.3 seconds left in overtime, securing a 135-132 win for the Indiana Pacers over the Boston Celtics in Indianapolis.
Jaylen Brown missed a three-point attempt on Boston’s final possession, handing the defending champions their first loss of the season.
In other matchups, Karl-Anthony Towns scored 44 points to lead the New York Knicks past the Miami Heat, 116-107.
The Oklahoma City Thunder bested the San Antonio Spurs 105-93, while the Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama, who recently won NBA Rookie of the Year, briefly exited with a foot injury but returned, ending the game with a career-low six points.
The Detroit Pistons clinched their first victory of the season with a 105-95 win against the Philadelphia 76ers, while the Portland Trail Blazers edged out the LA Clippers in a nail-biting 106-105 game, thanks to Anfernee Simons’ 25 points in California.
