A man has been charged with the murder of Deonte Mowatt-Slater, a 16-year-old boy fatally stabbed in Islington, north London.
The Metropolitan Police reported that Deonte was found with injuries on Courtauld Road shortly after midnight on Tuesday and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A postmortem examination carried out on Friday identified the cause of death as stab wounds.
Francie McCarthy, aged 21 and from Tufnell Park, is scheduled to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, where he faces a murder charge.
Specially trained police officers are providing ongoing support to Deonte’s family as they cope with their loss. Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, leading the investigation, extended sympathies to Deonte’s family during this difficult period.
He confirmed that the investigation is progressing but urged any witnesses or individuals with information to come forward and speak with the authorities.
Meanwhile, local officers continue patrolling the area, offering reassurance to the community. Residents with concerns are encouraged to approach officers on duty or reach out to their neighbourhood policing team for support.
