Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after two men were shot in Canning Town, East London.
The shooting occurred early on Saturday morning around 2:05 am on Thorne Close, leaving two men, aged 25 and 27, hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detective Inspector Iain Wallace urged anyone who was in the area at that time or who saw or heard anything suspicious to come forward.
“Two men were shot, and it’s crucial that we find those responsible,” he stated. Police are also encouraging anyone with dash cam footage to assist with the investigation, as no arrests have been made.
In response to the incident, police have increased patrols in the area for the coming days to reassure residents and deter further incidents. Anyone with potentially helpful information is asked to contact the police on 101.
East London, including neighbourhoods like Canning Town, has seen a fluctuating rate of violent crime in recent years, often drawing community and policing focus.
Although community programs and additional patrols have been initiated, incidents like this double shooting highlight ongoing challenges.
Increased use of technology, such as dash cam footage and public CCTV, has been pivotal in helping law enforcement investigate such incidents, but community cooperation remains essential in bolstering safety efforts.
