In a significant drug bust, six individuals have been charged following the seizure of approximately 180kg (397lb) of cocaine at Birmingham Airport.
Acting on intelligence, the National Crime Agency (NCA) made the arrests on Monday, discovering multiple suitcases filled with the illicit substance.
Among those charged are two men, two women, and a 17-year-old girl from Bradford, along with a man from Halesowen, Dudley.
All face charges of conspiracy to import Class A drugs and are scheduled to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, according to the NCA.
- The 17-year-old girl’s identity is withheld due to her age. The remaining defendants are:
- Aamir Shaffaq Mohammed, 27, of Waterlilly Road, Bradford
- Umair Shaffaq Mohammed, 21, of Waterlilly Road, Bradford
- Safa Noor, 19, of Waterlilly Road, Bradford
- Farzana Kauser, 53, of Waterlilly Road, Bradford
- Khaled Abdulkawi, 36, of Haden Road, Halesowen
The NCA’s intervention underscores its ongoing commitment to disrupt organised crime networks involved in drug trafficking across the UK.
