Ruben Amorim is poised to become Manchester United’s new head coach, with his arrival in England scheduled for Monday.
However, the 39-year-old Portuguese tactician must await the processing of his work permit before officially taking charge at Old Trafford.
Amorim, who led Sporting Lisbon to a 3-0 victory over Braga in his final match with the club, is set to begin his contract with Manchester United on Monday.
However, due to post-Brexit regulations, he cannot commence work at the club until his work visa is approved.
United sources expect the process to be completed smoothly and have expressed frustration at any speculation about delays, emphasising that the standard procedures are being followed.
While Amorim is waiting for his visa, he will still be able to visit Carrington for internal meetings and preparations.
The announcement of Amorim as Erik ten Hag’s permanent successor came on November 1, and his first match at the helm is scheduled for November 24, when United travels to Ipswich in the Premier League.
Amorim will be replacing Ruud van Nistelrooy, who oversaw United’s 3-0 victory against Leicester City on Sunday, a fitting end to his four-match unbeaten spell as interim head coach.
Although Amorim’s backroom staff has yet to be confirmed, he has already expressed his intention to bring some of his own trusted colleagues to Manchester.
It’s expected that Amorim will address the media at the end of the international break but will participate in in-house media engagements before then.
His arrival is eagerly anticipated by United fans, who are hoping for a fresh start under the young coach, who has earned a reputation for his tactical acumen and success with Sporting Lisbon.
