The Bowden Park Estate, a Grade II Listed property near Chippenham, Wiltshire, has been approved for a transformative project to establish a state-of-the-art therapy and healing centre.
Wiltshire Council has given the green light for the plans, which will repurpose the historic Tithe Barn on the estate.
Acquired by new owners after being listed for £35 million in 2020, the estate will be dedicated to promoting mental and physical well-being, nutrition, sustainable living, community development, and recovery.
The therapy centre will occupy a farm complex located within the estate, which encompasses a Georgian house surrounded by 638 acres of diverse land, including parkland, pasture, woodland, and arable fields.
The Tithe Barn, dating back to the 1800s, has faced significant damage over the years, including major reroofing in the 1960s.
It has reportedly remained unused for approximately three decades, making its revitalisation a key aspect of the project.
While a completion date for the development has not been confirmed, the centre is expected to become a vital resource for health and well-being in the region. The estate’s rich history and expansive grounds provide a fitting backdrop for this innovative initiative.
This project highlights the growing trend of repurposing historic properties to meet modern wellness needs while preserving cultural heritage.
