A major crackdown on county lines drug networks in Kent has led to the seizure of £120,000 worth of drugs, with 34 individuals arrested.
Kent Police’s operation, which took place between 25 November and 1 December, also uncovered a further £110,000 in cash, 14 weapons, two imitation firearms, and 16 mobile phones linked to drug dealing.
The operation exposed the exploitation of 10 vulnerable people, including two children, by criminal gangs using grooming tactics.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Rabey explained, “These gangs use grooming tactics like buying children food or clothes to win their trust and make them feel indebted.”
He urged the public to recognise the signs of exploitation and report any concerns to the police or trusted organisations, including schools, charities, or local authorities.
The operation is part of a wider national initiative aimed at tackling the issue of county lines, where criminal networks use phone lines to link urban and rural areas for drug distribution. Following the Kent operation, 22 suspects were charged with 69 offences.
Det Ch Insp Rabey emphasised Kent Police’s commitment to tackling illegal drug activities, stating, “We simply do not tolerate this type of activity in Kent and are dedicated to removing illegal substances and those who supply them from our streets.”
