Two women have tragically lost their lives, and a man and a teenage boy sustained serious injuries following a reported stabbing in Milton Keynes on Christmas Day.
Thames Valley Police confirmed the arrest of a 49-year-old local man on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. He remains in police custody as investigations continue.
Emergency services were called to a block of flats in Bletchley at approximately 6:30 pm on Christmas Day in response to reports of a violent incident.
Victims and Incident Details
The deceased women, aged 38 and 24, were pronounced dead at the scene. A man in his late 20s and a teenage boy were transported to hospital, where they are currently in stable condition.
Tragically, a dog injured during the attack was taken to a veterinary clinic but could not be saved.
Scene Investigation and Forensic Work
By Thursday afternoon, a large cordon surrounded the area, with forensic teams examining the block of flats and its surroundings.
Yellow evidence markers, first aid supplies, and other items could be seen scattered on the pavement and on the boot of a nearby car.
Police Support and Investigation
The families of the two women have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers. Formal identification is expected to follow shortly.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Brangwin, leading the investigation, offered his condolences to the victims’ families.
He stated: “We have launched a double-murder investigation, which may cause concern to the public. However, we have made an arrest and are not seeking anyone else in connection with this incident. The individuals involved were known to each other.”
DCI Brangwin also assured residents of an increased police presence in the area and encouraged anyone with concerns to approach officers on duty.
