Four men have been arrested following two serious assaults in Plymouth city centre, Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed.
The incident took place at nearly 04:25 BST on Old Town Street, near the Drake’s Circus shopping centre. Police reported that the assaults occurred after a verbal altercation between the victims and the suspects.
Two men, aged 20 and 18, both from Plymouth, were arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm (ABH) and two counts of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent. Additionally, two other 20-year-old men from Plymouth were arrested on suspicion of ABH.
The first victim, a man in his 20s, was punched and struck in the face by a group of men. He sustained injuries, but his condition was not life-threatening.
The second victim, a man in his 30s, intervened to assist the first victim but was also attacked by the group. He was kicked and stamped on around the head.
Both men received treatment at the scene before being transported to Derriford Hospital. Fortunately, their injuries were described as non-life-changing.
All four suspects have been released on bail pending further investigation, with conditions in place until March.
Devon and Cornwall Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV or mobile phone footage to come forward to assist with the investigation.
