A Loganair flight en route to Edinburgh was forced to declare a mid-air emergency on Tuesday evening due to a technical issue.
Flight LM328, travelling from Southampton to Scotland’s capital, issued a squawk 7700 alert — the international code for an emergency — at about 8:53 pm.
Despite the incident, the aircraft landed safely at Edinburgh Airport around 9:10 pm, and all passengers disembarked without issue.
Reports suggest the emergency was triggered by a hydraulic failure, which affected the plane’s flaps.
In a statement, a Loganair spokesperson said, “Loganair can confirm that flight LM328 reported a technical issue on Tuesday evening. The aircraft landed safely and passengers disembarked normally.
“The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew is always our highest priority. We thank our customers for their understanding and ground crews for their quick response.”
Such incidents, while rare, highlight the airline industry’s commitment to prioritising safety and ensuring swift action in emergency situations.
