Rail services through Wolverhampton have been disrupted following overrunning engineering works, as confirmed by West Midlands Railway.
Passengers are advised to allow extra travel time and to check journey planners due to the ongoing issues.
Several services have been cancelled, including trains between Birmingham New Street and Shrewsbury.
Replacement coaches are running between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury. The Walsall to Wolverhampton line is operating, but passengers travelling between Walsall and Birmingham New Street can use West Midlands Metro services for part of their journey.
Live travel updates have reported significant disruptions affecting Birmingham New Street, the Shrewsbury via Telford route, as well as areas around Walsall and Wolverhampton.
Passengers are urged to plan ahead and check travel information regularly. If delays exceed 15 minutes, passengers are eligible for compensation through Delay Repay.
West Midlands Railway issued an apology for the inconvenience caused and reassured passengers that engineers were working hard to resolve the disruptions.
Additionally, major signalling work in Crewe has also impacted services, with several lines affected due to engineering work in and around the town between Christmas and New Year.
An amended timetable will be in place from Monday, 30 December, through to New Year’s Day, with all West Midlands Railway services impacted.
On Monday and New Year’s Eve, trains running between Birmingham New Street and Shrewsbury will experience delays.
On New Year’s Day, a special timetable will operate with Sunday-level service frequencies for Shrewsbury, Wolverhampton, Walsall, and Coventry routes.
Services to Herefordshire and Worcestershire will also be subject to later start times. Affected areas include Hereford, Great Malvern, Lichfield Trent Valley, Redditch, Bromsgrove, Worcester, Kidderminster, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Stourbridge.
