Herefordshire residents are being urged to download the JustPark app as the local council transitions to a new cashless parking system.
The change, effective from 7 January, will see the council move away from the existing RingGo app, which will be unavailable after 10 January.
Despite the app switch, parking charges will remain unchanged, but the council has stressed the importance of setting up the new JustPark app ahead of time.
Downloading the app from an official app store is crucial to avoid falling victim to parking scams, which have affected motorists nationwide.
Councillor Barry Durkin, cabinet member for roads and regulatory services, acknowledged that the switch to a new app may be a challenge for some residents.
He advised frequent users of cashless parking to get familiar with JustPark before the changeover, to ensure a smooth transition and avoid any last-minute issues.
“This is why we are urging those who frequently use cashless parking to please download the JustPark app as soon as possible, to familiarise themselves with it and avoid any last minute difficulties when the service switches over,” he said.
The council is committed to making the transition as seamless as possible and encourages residents to take action early.
