Two individuals have been arrested after Wiltshire Police seized drugs with an estimated street value of £150,000 in a significant operation.
The drugs, which included both class A and class B substances, were discovered during warrants executed at a business premises on Manchester Road, Swindon, and a residential property in Cherry Orchard, Highworth, on Wednesday.
In addition to the drugs, officers uncovered large amounts of cash, high-value jewellery, and clothing. The two individuals were arrested on suspicion of drug supply and money laundering, as the investigation revealed links to organised criminal activity.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that the seizures were part of their ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crime in the region.
Sergeant Winter, speaking on behalf of Wiltshire Police, emphasised the significance of the operation.
“A significant amount of drugs” have been taken off the streets as a result,” he said.
He went on to explain that drug supply brings a host of related crimes and anti-social behaviour, including violence and theft, which can severely impact local communities.
“Broadgreen is a diverse area, and has many young families living in the area that are hugely impacted by the effects of drug supply criminality,” Winter added.
Swindon and the surrounding areas of Wiltshire have faced significant challenges in recent years related to drug trafficking and organised crime.
Local authorities and police forces have ramped up efforts to target drug dealers, dismantling criminal networks that cause harm to the community. This recent operation is part of a broader initiative to reduce drug supply and prevent the violence and anti-social behaviour that often accompany it.
