Two men were shot, and another was stabbed in separate incidents near a station in east London, with police suspecting the two events may be linked.
The Metropolitan Police responded to reports of gunfire in Homerton at about 22:35 GMT on Saturday. Emergency services quickly attended the scene and provided treatment to a 27-year-old man who had suffered gunshot wounds outside the Overground station.
Two other men, aged 28 and 29, were also injured in a nearby incident on Gascoyne Road, with one sustaining a gunshot wound and the other being stabbed.
Fortunately, none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening, but no arrests have been made yet.
Supt Brigid Beehag-Fisher from Hackney and Tower Hamlets Police condemned the incidents, describing them as a “casual disregard for the safety of our communities.”
She assured the public that police investigation teams are working diligently to understand the circumstances and identify those responsible.
To ensure community safety, the police have confirmed that there will be an increased presence in the area in the coming days.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about either incident to come forward and assist the investigation.
