A man has been charged following the seizure of drugs and a large sum of cash from a vehicle and flat in west London.
On Tuesday, 7 January, officers from the Organised Crime Partnership (OCP) – a collaboration between the National Crime Agency (NCA) and the Metropolitan Police – intercepted 27-year-old Gleni Goleci on High Street in Brentford.
Upon searching the car he was driving, officers discovered two kilograms of cocaine and approximately £50,000 in cash hidden in a sophisticated compartment in the boot.
Further investigations led officers to a flat in Brentford, where they recovered six kilograms of cocaine and £150,000 in cash.
Goleci, an Albanian national, was arrested and charged with drug possession and criminal property offences.
He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 9 January and was remanded in custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for Isleworth Crown Court on 6 February.
Andrew Tickner, NCA Operations Manager for the OCP, commented, “These seizures mean that it will now be impossible for the organised crime group behind this trade to reinvest their profits into further criminality and exploitation.
“The NCA and Metropolitan Police continue to work in partnership to detect and apprehend individuals suspected of involvement in drug trafficking that is impacting London communities.”
This action is part of ongoing efforts by the OCP to tackle serious organised crime, including drug trafficking and associated financial crimes in London.
