Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the fatal stabbing of 14-year-old Kelyan Bokassa on a bus in Woolwich, London. The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon as Kelyan was traveling on the 472 bus to Abbey Wood along Woolwich Church Road.
Arrests in Connection with the Fatal Stabbing
The Metropolitan Police announced on Wednesday that two boys, aged 15 and 16, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. A 44-year-old woman has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All three remain in custody as investigations continue.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee, who is leading the case, expressed gratitude for the swift action by officers and the cooperation of the Woolwich community. “While these arrests mark significant progress, we still urge anyone with information about Kelyan’s murder to come forward and assist us. Your help is vital,” she said.
Community Reactions and Police Efforts
The attack, described by Chief Superintendent Louise Sargent as a “horrendous crime,” has deeply shaken the local community. Police officers have been working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice, and their efforts are backed by the strong support of residents in Woolwich.
Shortly after the stabbing, paramedics attended the scene but were unable to save Kelyan, who tragically succumbed to his injuries. A video circulating on social media reportedly shows emergency responders carrying a body bag from the bus, further underscoring the devastating impact of this crime.
Police Appeal for Information
Authorities are continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone with relevant details to step forward. They are particularly keen on gathering insights from anyone who was on the bus at the time or who may have seen the suspects before or after the attack.
DCI Lee added, “We remain committed to tackling violent offenders across London and ensuring the safety of our communities. This incident highlights the importance of coming together to address violence and protect young lives.”
