A pub manager and two others are in hospital following a “horrific” stabbing attack at a popular Wetherspoon pub in Kings Norton, Birmingham.
The incident, which occurred at the Navigation Inn on Wharf Road, has left three individuals with serious stab wounds.
Police were called to the scene at about 23:15 GMT on Saturday. Two men and one woman were found injured and received immediate medical treatment for their stab wounds. All three victims remain in hospital, and a 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
The two injured men, who have also been arrested, are being questioned by police. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, which has left the local community in shock.
A spokesperson for Wetherspoon, Eddie Gershon, confirmed that the pub manager was undergoing surgery, but thankfully, their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Gershon described the incident as “horrific” and expressed disbelief that such violence had occurred at the Navigation Inn, a pub known for being a popular local gathering spot.
“This was a horrific incident at the pub,” Gershon said.
“The Navigation Inn is a popular local pub and this incident is completely out of character.”
West Midlands Tackles Rising Knife Crime
The incident comes amid rising concerns over knife crime in the West Midlands. Figures released in July revealed that the region had the highest rate of knife offences in England and Wales.
Local authorities and police are under increasing pressure to tackle violent crime, with the latest attack highlighting the severity of the issue.
West Midlands Police have confirmed that they are continuing their investigation into the stabbing, and the Navigation Inn was closed on Sunday for forensic examination and police inquiries.
The BBC has reached out to police for an update on the condition of the three injured individuals, with further details expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
