Striker Jhon Duran has completed a transfer from Aston Villa to Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr for a fee believed to be around £65 million.
Duran will be joining high-profile teammates Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane in Riyadh.
Aston Villa has officially confirmed the move, extending their best wishes to Duran for the next chapter of his career.
Duran, who did not play in Villa’s recent 4-2 Champions League victory over Celtic—a win that secured their progression to the last 16—originally signed for Villa from Chicago Fire in January 2023 for £18 million.
Despite scoring 12 goals in 29 matches this season, Duran has started in the league only seven times, contributing to persistent transfer speculation.
The player’s departure positions Ollie Watkins as Aston Villa’s primary striker. This week, Watkins attracted interest from Arsenal, although Villa have no plans to let him go.
Manager Unai Emery emphasized the club’s intent to retain their key players to achieve their sporting goals, stating that any deals will be contingent on the benefits to both the player and the club.
During this transfer window, Villa also brought in Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund, seen as a replacement for Moussa Diaby who transferred to Al-Ittihad earlier in the summer. Villa’s next fixture is against Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday.
