An 87-year-old woman has tragically died after being hit by a car in Edinburgh earlier this week. The incident occurred on Monday evening around 17:45 on St John’s Road, between the Drumbrae roundabout and Corstorphine Bank Drive. The vehicle involved was a black Ford Fiesta.
The woman was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh but sadly succumbed to her injuries on Friday.
Police Appeal for Information
Police Scotland is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Sgt Paul Ewing expressed condolences to the woman’s family, who have requested privacy during this difficult time.
“Our inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash, and we are keen to speak with anyone who has not yet come forward but may have information to assist our investigation,” said Sgt Ewing.
Drivers who were in the area at the time are being asked to review their dashcam footage for any recordings that could help investigators.
Road Closure and Investigation
St John’s Road was closed to traffic following the crash to allow for investigation work. It reopened around 01:00 on Tuesday. Police continue to appeal to witnesses or anyone with relevant information to contact them directly.
