A fundraiser has been launched to support the family of six-year-old Hope Gordon, who was tragically found dead in West Calder earlier this week.
Hope’s body was discovered alongside that of her father, Mark Gordon, at a property on Harburn Drive around 4pm on Monday.
Police are treating Hope’s death as a murder, and investigations are ongoing. The circumstances surrounding Mark Gordon’s death are currently being treated as unexplained, pending a post-mortem.
However, detectives have assured the public that there is no indication of anyone else being involved or any risk to the public.
In response to this heartbreaking tragedy, family friend Melanie Wheeldon has launched a GoFundMe page to help the Gordon family with the unexpected funeral expenses.
Over £6,700 has been raised in just two days, highlighting the outpouring of support from the community during this incredibly difficult time.
Hope, who was remembered as a “vibrant and loving little girl,” was known for her infectious smile, kind nature, and deep love for animals. Melanie Wheeldon shared her heartfelt tribute, saying: “Hope’s life was tragically cut short, leaving a void in the hearts of her family and friends that can never be filled.”
Melanie also expressed gratitude for any contributions, no matter the amount: “Every contribution, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser link with your friends and family to help spread the word.”
Detective Superintendent Grant Hendry from the Major Investigation Team extended his condolences, stating, “Our thoughts remain with Hope’s family and friends, along with everyone affected by this tragedy.
“The families are understandably devastated and we are providing them with support through specialist officers at this extremely difficult time.
Detective Hendry also appealed to the public, “Our team of officers continue to carry out enquiries to get answers for the families and at this time, we have no information to suggest anyone else is involved.
“I would ask that anyone with any information, no matter how small or insignificant you think it is, gets in touch with the police.”
