A burglary in the quiet village of Wanborough, near Swindon, has resulted in the theft of jewellery and watches valued at £21,000.
The incident occurred while the homeowners were away during the festive season, between 20 December and 4 January.
Among the stolen items were luxury watches, including several Breitlings, and a sapphire diamond ring, all of significant monetary and sentimental value.
Wanborough, a picturesque village located near Swindon in Wiltshire, is known for its charming countryside and close-knit community.
While typically considered a safe area, the recent spike in burglaries has left residents concerned about security.
Wiltshire Police have confirmed that the burglary is part of a worrying trend, with “several” similar incidents reported in the area during the same period.
Det Con Kyra Freeland stated that patrols have been increased in response to the crimes. The police are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
To prevent further incidents, police are advising residents to enhance home security measures, such as installing alarms, securing valuables in safes, and using smart lighting to give the impression of occupancy during absences.
