A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of Iran International presenter Pouria Zeraati in London last year, the Metropolitan Police confirmed.
The suspect was apprehended on Tuesday at a property in Cricklewood, London, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.
After questioning at a West London police station, he was released on bail pending further investigation.
The arrest forms part of an ongoing investigation into the attack on Zeraati, which occurred on March 29 outside his home in Wimbledon, south London.
Zeraati sustained leg injuries and was discharged from the hospital two days later.
Two Romanian nationals, Nandito Badea, 20, and George Stana, 24, were previously extradited from Romania and charged with wounding and intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
They are due to appear at the Old Bailey on January 17 after a preliminary hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
In 2022, Iran International relocated its broadcasts to Washington, DC, following threats against its staff and concerns over their safety.
The attack on Zeraati underscores the continued risks faced by Iranian dissidents and journalists abroad.
