A man has been arrested following the discovery of a deceased individual at a property in Brighton.
Sussex Police were called to the scene at Upper Hollingdean Road on the morning of 16 January, after concerns were raised about the welfare of a man.
Upon arrival, officers found the man inside the property, and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
The death has been described as “unexplained” at this stage, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause.
Sussex Police have arrested a 49-year-old man from Hove on suspicion of murder. The man remains in custody as authorities continue their inquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cullimore has assured the public that there will be increased police activity in the area as they gather evidence and information to help understand the circumstances surrounding the death.
“I’d like to thank residents and the wider public in advance for their patience while we carry out these enquiries.” Cullimore said.
It is known that the two men involved were familiar with each other, though the nature of their relationship remains unclear. The police are appealing to the public for information to assist with their investigation.
