A 37-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following the stabbing of a nurse at Royal Oldham Hospital’s acute medical unit. The incident occurred around 23:30 GMT on Saturday, leaving the victim, a woman in her 50s, with life-changing injuries.
The suspect, identified as Rumon Haque from Royton, Greater Manchester, has also been charged with possession of a bladed article. Haque is scheduled to appear before Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, according to Greater Manchester Police (GMP).
Nurse Remains in Hospital
The injured nurse is receiving ongoing treatment in hospital for her severe injuries. GMP Detective Superintendent Matt Walker expressed the force’s sympathies, stating, “Our thoughts remain with the nurse, her family, and her colleagues during this difficult time.”
