A man has been sentenced to eight years and six months in prison following a distressing robbery at a post office.
Benjamin Johnson, 33, brandished a large kitchen knife at staff of the Horncastle post office and stole £1,000 at approximately 14:30 GMT on 22 July 2024.
Residing in Tennyson Gardens, Horncastle, Johnson admitted to charges of robbery and possession of a bladed article and received a prison sentence of seven years and six months at Lincoln Crown Court on Thursday.
An additional year was added to his sentence for two counts of assault by beating. He also received concurrent sentences for criminal damage, dangerous driving, assaulting an emergency worker, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Following the robbery, Johnson escaped the scene on a bicycle but was subsequently identified through CCTV footage, according to Lincolnshire Police.
