Masked Men Launch Attack in Lifford Home
Reports indicate that several masked men entered the house armed with iron bars. The young man sustained serious injuries and remains hospitalized in Belfast. His father, aged in his 60s, suffered less severe injuries and was transported to Letterkenny University Hospital by ambulance.
Gardaí Appeal for Witnesses
Garda Sergeant Eunan Walsh described the incident as a “very serious aggravated assault” and urged witnesses to come forward during an appeal on Highland Radio. The house remains cordoned off, with investigations ongoing.
Community Shocked by Attack in Quiet Area
The Coneyburrow Road area, situated just half a mile outside Lifford and close to the N15 road, is generally known for its tranquility. On Tuesday, senior Garda officers conducted door-to-door inquiries. Residents expressed shock and concern about the assault, noting that such incidents are rare in the area.
Two vehicles were seen parked outside the house, but there was little visible evidence of the attack apart from the Garda presence and cordoned-off property.
