Three teenagers have been charged with the murder of 17-year-old Thomas Taylor, who was fatally stabbed near a bus station in Bedford on Wednesday evening.
Thomas, who was attacked on Greenhill Street at around 5:50 pm, succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the hospital.
Ahmed Adam, 18, of Mardale Close in Kempston, along with two other males, aged 16 and 17, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were charged with murder on Saturday.
They have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear at Luton Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
In connection with the investigation, three additional individuals were arrested over the weekend. A 16-year-old and an 18-year-old male remain in custody, while another 18-year-old was released on bail.
Detective Inspector Richard Stott extended condolences to Thomas’s family and reassured the community, stating that the investigation is progressing rapidly. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Thomas, a student at Bedford Academy, was described by his headteacher, Chris Deller, as a “respected lad” who had excelled in his studies. Deller emphasized the school’s focus on supporting Thomas’s family and the community during this difficult time.
In a statement to the BBC, Thomas’s mother, Samantha Taylor, expressed her heartbreak, describing her son as caring, intelligent, and full of promise. She said the family was “completely devastated” by the tragic loss.
