A 20-year-old man has died after being stabbed in Hackney, east London, triggering a murder investigation.
Emergency services were called to Bodney Road shortly before 6pm following reports of a fight. Officers arrived to find the victim critically injured with stab wounds, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Later that evening, two men, aged 25 and 23, were arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody as police continue their inquiries.
Authorities have assured residents of an increased police presence in the area while the investigation progresses.
Officers are urging anyone with information, particularly those with dashcam, doorbell, or mobile phone footage from around 5:30pm, to come forward.
This incident adds to growing concerns over knife crime in the capital. According to recent statistics, London has seen a sharp rise in fatal stabbings, particularly among young people.
Hackney, like many other boroughs, has struggled with gang-related violence and youth crime, prompting calls for stronger preventative measures.
Community leaders and anti-violence campaigners have repeatedly urged authorities to increase efforts in tackling the root causes of knife crime, such as poverty, lack of opportunities, and social exclusion.
The government and Metropolitan Police have introduced various initiatives, including youth intervention programmes and increased stop-and-search measures, but violent incidents continue to occur.
