Aston Villa have secured the services of Marcus Rashford on a loan from Manchester United until the season’s end, featuring a purchase option pegged at £40 million.
Villa will cover at least 75% of Rashford’s salary and have not incurred a loan fee, according to sources from United.
Expressing his gratitude on Instagram, Rashford remarked, “I’m grateful to both Manchester United and Aston Villa for facilitating this move.
I had interest from several clubs, but choosing Aston Villa was straightforward due to their impressive play this season and the manager’s vision. My focus is now on playing football and I’m eager to start.”
Following his omission from the lineup in the Manchester derby in December, the England international declared his readiness for a new challenge.
Villa’s manager Unai Emery has been vocal about the club’s need for reinforcements, especially after a 2-0 loss to Wolves, a side battling relegation.
In addition to Rashford, Villa are on the verge of acquiring Spain’s midfielder Marco Asensio on a loan deal from Paris St-Germain.
Earlier in January, the club welcomed Spanish defender Andres Garcia from Levante and Dutch striker Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund.
Conversely, they offloaded Colombian forward Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr for £71 million and defender Diego Carlos to Fenerbahce for approximately £8.45 million.
The Villans have also had to adapt due to an injury to England striker Ollie Watkins, prompting the shift of midfielder Boubacar Kamara to a central defensive role amid injuries to key defenders Pau Torres and Tyrone Mings.
