Police in Glasgow’s east end have arrested three individuals following a significant drug and weapons seizure during a targeted operation.
On the morning of Thursday, 6 February, officers executed a warrant at three addresses in Barrowfield, uncovering a substantial haul of illegal substances and weapons.
Among the seized items were cocaine and cannabis with an estimated street value of £55,000, a four-figure sum of cash, multiple knives, and an imitation firearm.
Two men, aged 23 and 27, along with a 28-year-old woman, have been arrested and charged in connection with the operation. They were scheduled to appear before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, 7 February.
Sergeant Craig Thomson of Police Scotland expressed gratitude for the public’s assistance, stating:
“We’d like to thank the local community for their ongoing support. We encourage anyone with information on drug-related crime to report it via 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Background: Drug Crime and Police Crackdowns in Glasgow
Glasgow has long been a focal point for drug-related crime in Scotland, with organised gangs operating across the city.
Police Scotland has intensified its efforts to disrupt illicit drug distribution, particularly in areas like the east end, where high-profile raids have taken place in recent years.
Authorities have been targeting the supply chain, seizing large quantities of drugs, cash, and weapons, aiming to dismantle networks involved in county lines trafficking—a growing issue where organised crime groups exploit vulnerable individuals to move drugs across regions.
The £55,000 drug seizure in Barrowfield is part of an ongoing effort to curb the influence of criminal gangs in Glasgow.
With local communities playing a key role in intelligence gathering, police continue to urge residents to report suspicious activity to help make neighbourhoods safer.
