A woman in her 60s has been seriously injured after being struck by a car outside King’s Mill Hospital in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.
The incident occurred at around 11:40 GMT on Monday in the hospital’s drop-off area, a location frequently used by patients, visitors, and emergency vehicles.
Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, and the woman was taken for urgent medical treatment.
Nottinghamshire Police have confirmed that no arrests have been made, and the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene to assist officers with their enquiries.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision, with Detective Constable Liah Lane from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit leading the inquiry.
Police are urging witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward to assist with the investigation.
While the accident caused temporary disruption at the hospital’s entrance, services at King’s Mill Hospital have not been affected. Hospital staff and visitors were praised for their cooperation and patience during the police investigation.
King’s Mill Hospital, part of the Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust, is a major healthcare facility in Nottinghamshire, providing emergency and specialist care to thousands of patients each year.
With a busy drop-off zone catering to ambulances, private vehicles, and public transport, road safety has been a growing concern in and around the hospital grounds.
In recent years, hospital entrances and car parks have become high-risk areas for pedestrian accidents, particularly as traffic increases during peak visiting hours.
The incident at King’s Mill Hospital serves as a reminder of the importance of road awareness in these areas and the need for improved safety measures to prevent further accidents.
