A 58-year-old woman has tragically been stabbed to death at her home in Bayencourt South, Bexhill, Sussex, prompting a major police investigation.
Authorities have arrested a 39-year-old woman from Bexhill on suspicion of murder, while a second man was also taken into custody for allegedly assisting an offender.
Emergency services were called to the property just after 10 pm on Wednesday, 12 February, following reports of a stabbing. Despite prompt action by police and paramedics, the victim succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Sussex Police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. A spokesperson stated, “Police investigating the fatal stabbing of a woman at a property in Bayencourt South, Bexhill, have arrested a woman on suspicion of murder.
“Emergency services were called to a report of a woman who had been stabbed just after 10 pm on Wednesday, February 12.
“Despite the efforts of police and paramedics, the 58-year-old victim sadly died at the scene from her injuries.”
Detective Chief Inspector Campbell expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the victim, “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends following this tragic incident and the family ask that they are given privacy at this time.
“We are in the early stages of a fast-moving investigation, but it is currently believed this matter involved people known to each other.
“I understand this will be alarming to the community and there will be an increased police presence in the area for some time.”
