A man and a woman have been found dead in a house in southeast London after officers conducted a welfare check.
Police were called to a property on Holstein Way in Thamesmead at around 3:00 pm on Tuesday, where they discovered the bodies of a man and a woman with serious injuries. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Local resident Eseoghtene Keremu, who lives nearby, said she heard sirens and saw police cars and ambulances arrive on the road.
She described the incident as shocking and sad, adding that such events are rare in the close-knit community.
Authorities have confirmed that the deceased were known to each other and, at this stage, are not seeking anyone else in connection with the deaths.
A crime scene remains in place as investigations continue to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Local businesses, such as Shadikay Day Care, expressed shock over the incident, stating they hadn’t noticed police presence at the time.
Detective Trevor Lawry assured residents that officers are working closely with local authorities to establish what led to the tragedy. He thanked the community for their patience during the investigation.
