Two teenagers were hospitalised following a stabbing incident at a 16th birthday celebration in East London, which escalated into violence when an uninvited group, some armed with machetes and knives, disrupted the event.
The altercation erupted around 9 pm on Saturday at Elm Park Primary School, as reported by the Metropolitan Police.
The victims, a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man sustained injuries from suspected knife attacks but are in stable condition, with their injuries deemed neither life-threatening nor life-changing. Both individuals are cooperating with police investigations.
Local residents described the scene to the Havering Daily as “total chaos,” witnessing a mob of approximately 40 to 50 youths wreaking havoc in the neighbourhood.
“They were seen dropping weapons in people’s driveways and running away,” one neighbour reported, adding that the youths also confronted the police, forcing officers to disperse the crowd.
Video footage captured from the event shows several youths fleeing the school hall in panic, with one individual visibly brandishing a weapon. The police were summoned to Calbourne Avenue shortly after the disturbance began, encountering a group of aggressive teenagers.
The police response led to the arrest of three teenagers at the scene, suspected of assaulting emergency workers. They were taken to an East London police station and later bailed pending further enquiries.
Metropolitan Police confirmed that their officers received on-site medical attention from the London Ambulance Service and did not require hospitalisation. The investigation into the full circumstances of the incident is actively continuing.
