On Saturday, 1st March, an 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with a stabbing in South Belfast.
The incident occurred around 7:35 pm at the junction of Agincourt Avenue and Ormeau Road, where a man in his 50s was assaulted and sustained a stab wound to his shoulder.

South Belfast has experienced various incidents of violent crime in recent years.
According to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), the crime rate in the Belfast City policing district was 96 crimes per 1,000 people in the 2023/24 period, higher than the Northern Ireland average of 55 crimes per 1,000 people.
Notably, in January 2025, heavily armed officers responded to reports of a stabbing on Tates Avenue in South Belfast.
Additionally, in June 2023, a man was accused of stabbing and choking an escort during a dispute over payment in the same area.
These incidents highlight ongoing concerns about public safety and the need for effective measures to address violent crime in the region.
