Rail services departing from Edinburgh Haymarket face significant disruptions today, as emergency teams address an incident on the tracks between Haymarket and Inverkeithing.
ScotRail has announced through their social media channels that numerous trains, including those bound for Glenrothes, Cowdenbeath, Leven, Aberdeen, Dundee, and Perth, are either delayed or cancelled.
The specifics of the incident are currently unclear, and there is no estimated time provided for when normal service will resume.
ScotRail issued a statement noting: “The line is obstructed due to emergency services managing an incident between Inverkeithing and Haymarket. Expect delays, changes, and cancellations.”
Earlier this month, a signalling fault is causing widespread disruption to ScotRail services departing from Glasgow Central, with multiple routes affected.
The issue, identified between Barrhead and Dunlop, has led to the closure of railway lines while Network Rail conducts investigations.
As a result, services running between Glasgow Central and Barrhead, Kilmarnock, Lanark, Stranraer, and Ayr are experiencing significant delays in both directions.
ScotRail has confirmed that journeys to Carlisle are also affected. Passengers travelling towards Carlisle can use their ScotRail tickets on TransPennine Express and Avanti West Coast services until 10 am.
