A murder inquiry has commenced following a tragic incident in north London where two men were victims of a shooting.
The Metropolitan Police responded to calls at 8.45 pm on Thursday at an address on Waverley Road, Tottenham, where they discovered the two injured men.
A 27-year-old man sustained a fatal head injury, while a 26-year-old was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg. Sadly, the older man succumbed to his injuries despite immediate medical attention.
His next of kin have been notified and are being supported by specialist liaison officers.
Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines, leading the Tottenham police force, confirmed the violent event, expressing her condolences and addressing the community’s concerns.
“A tragic shooting occurred here last night, resulting in a devastating loss of life. We are fully aware of the potential distress this causes within the community and are conducting thorough patrols to gather crucial evidence and reassure local residents,” she stated.
No arrests have been made as yet, but the police urge calm, assuring the public that an experienced team is urgently pursuing leads to apprehend those responsible.
Chief Superintendent Haines appealed to the public for assistance: “Anyone in the vicinity after 8 pm last night who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is urged to come forward. Your information could prove essential in tracking down the culprits.”
The younger victim is currently hospitalized, with updates on his condition pending. The community is urged to cooperate and provide any relevant information to aid the police in their investigation.
