Three teenage girls have been arrested following the death of a 75-year-old Bolivian man in north London, prompting a murder investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
Emergency services were called to Seven Sisters Road in Islington at around 11.35pm on Thursday. The victim was taken to hospital but sadly died on Friday. His family has been informed.
The three teenage girls, aged 14, 16, and 17, were initially arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) before the man’s death.
Their cases are now being reviewed, and they remain in custody as police continue their inquiries.
A formal identification process and post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
Superintendent Annmarie Cowley, overseeing policing in Islington, acknowledged the community’s shock and reassured residents that a thorough investigation is underway.
Additional police patrols have been deployed in the area, and residents are encouraged to speak with officers if they have any concerns or information.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller, leading the investigation, confirmed that forensic teams and specialists are working at pace to gather evidence, including CCTV footage.
He urged any witnesses who have not yet come forward to contact the police immediately.
