Activists have vandalised Donald Trump’s Turnberry golf resort in South Ayrshire in response to his recent remarks on Gaza.
The incident occurred overnight, with protesters defacing the course with large painted messages and damaging key sections of the greens, including one of its most prestigious holes, frequently used in Open Championships.
The phrase “Gaza Is Not For Sale” was painted in three-metre-high letters across the lawn, in what activist group Palestine Action has described as a direct response to Trump’s stance on the Israel-Gaza conflict.
Donald Trump has faced criticism for comments suggesting the complete “clean-out” of Gaza. A recent AI-generated video, posted on his Truth Social platform, depicted a satirical advertisement for a fictional “Trump Gaza” resort, featuring Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu drinking together.
The video, which included imagery of a giant gold balloon shaped like Trump’s head, was meant as satire but raised concerns over its potential impact.
Trump also addressed Gaza’s population directly, stating that a prosperous future awaited them, but only if hostages were released.
His administration has recently approved the shipment of 40,000 bombs to Israel, further fuelling controversy.
Activists behind the vandalism have condemned Trump’s rhetoric and policies, accusing him of treating Gaza as if it were his own property. They have vowed to continue resisting what they describe as US-Israeli colonialism in Palestinian territories.
Police Scotland received reports of the damage at approximately 4:40am on Saturday, 8 March 2025. Authorities are currently investigating the incident and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
A spokesperson for Trump Turnberry has dismissed the vandalism as a childish and criminal act. They have reassured that operations at the luxury golf resort will continue as normal, stating that Turnberry remains a symbol of excellence in the world of golf.
This incident adds to growing global tensions surrounding the ongoing conflict in Gaza, as political figures face increased scrutiny over their responses and policies.
