A man has tragically been stabbed to death in a daylight altercation on a west London street, with a second man, also injured, arrested on suspicion of murder.
Police were called to a violent brawl on Erconwald Street, East Acton, at around 1:10pm on Saturday, 5 April, where they discovered two men with stab wounds.
Despite emergency efforts, one man died at the scene, while the second was rushed to hospital with injuries. His condition is currently unknown, but he has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
The street remains closed as police continue their investigation into the incident. A Labour MP for East Acton, Rupa Huq, expressed her sadness over the fatal stabbing, which has shocked the local community.
The London Ambulance Service responded quickly, sending advanced paramedics and emergency responders, including a car from London’s Air Ambulance. Tragically, one of the men succumbed to his injuries, while the other was transported to a major trauma centre.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed the ongoing investigation, stating, “Officers attended the scene within minutes. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, one man was pronounced dead at the scene. The second individual has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in hospital.”
The incident has raised further concerns about violence in the area, as Erconwald Street remains shut while police gather evidence. Investigations are ongoing, and updates are awaited regarding the arrested man’s condition.
