A murder investigation is under way after a 21-year-old man was fatally stabbed in south-east London.
Emergency services were called to Hillingdon Street in Walworth shortly after 9pm on Sunday night, following reports of a stabbing.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police attended the scene alongside paramedics from the London Ambulance Service.
Despite the efforts of emergency responders, the young man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Scotland Yard has confirmed that six people — five men and one woman, all in their 20s — have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody as detectives continue their investigation.
Police have yet to formally identify the victim, and efforts are ongoing to trace and notify his next of kin.
The local borough commander, Chief Superintendent Emma Bond, acknowledged the impact the incident has had on the community and confirmed that multiple crime scenes are currently in place in the surrounding area. She also confirmed that a heightened police presence will remain to provide reassurance and assist with enquiries.
The Metropolitan Police is appealing to anyone with information or footage that may assist the investigation to come forward.
Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have relevant CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at the time.
