A group of Youth Demand protesters caused disruption in central London on Saturday during a pro-Palestinian rally.
Around 40 campaigners gathered at Lincoln’s Inn Fields in the morning before marching towards King’s Cross station.
The demonstration formed part of Youth Demand’s ongoing campaign to hold protests every Tuesday and Saturday throughout April.
Protesters carried banners calling for an end to arms sales to Israel and released green flares as they marched through the city.
At approximately 12:15 pm, Youth Demand supporters split into two groups, with one group blocking traffic on Euston Road near King’s Cross.
The Metropolitan Police issued a warning under Section 7 of the Public Order Act. Protesters dispersed after around 10 minutes, and no arrests were reported.
The Met Police had previously confirmed that Youth Demand intended to ‘shut down’ parts of London throughout April by using roadblocks and ‘swarming’ tactics.
Authorities stated they recognise the right to protest but would intervene to prevent serious disruption and criminal activity.
Last Thursday, six Youth Demand members were arrested at a Quaker House meeting in Westminster on suspicion of conspiracy to cause a public nuisance. Over 20 uniformed officers, some armed with Tasers, entered the meeting house to make the arrests.
Despite the police operation, Youth Demand reported a surge in public interest following the arrests, with a significant rise in new supporters joining their movement.
