A man has been charged following the seizure of over 70 kilos of heroin, worth an estimated £7.2 million, in a major drug operation in west London.
Bernard Narh, 34, from South Oxhey, Hertfordshire, was arrested by officers from the Organised Crime Partnership, a joint unit of the National Crime Agency (NCA) and the Metropolitan Police Service, on Tuesday, 28 January.
Narh was charged with possession of drugs with intent to supply after police uncovered more than 140 blocks of heroin during a search of a flat in Ealing.
The seized heroin had an estimated street value of £7.2 million, making it a significant find in the ongoing battle against organised drug crime.
In addition to the drug-related charge, Narh was also charged with driving while disqualified and without insurance, further complicating his legal situation.
He appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on 30 January, where he was remanded in custody. Narh is scheduled to appear at Isleworth Crown Court on 27 February for his next hearing.
Andrew Tickner, Operations Manager at the NCA, commended the successful operation, stating: “We have successfully removed a large amount of dangerous drugs from the streets, depriving a crime group of profits that would have been ploughed back into further offending.”
He further emphasized the importance of the partnership between the NCA and the Metropolitan Police in disrupting drug trafficking operations, which he highlighted as having a “corrosive impact” on communities throughout London.
This operation is part of a broader effort by the NCA and local law enforcement to target and dismantle drug trafficking networks operating in and around London.
The authorities are committed to continuing their work to curb the distribution of illegal substances and reduce the harmful effects on communities.
