Two teenagers lost their lives, and seven others were injured in a tragic two-car collision in East Yorkshire on New Year’s Day. The crash, involving a Volkswagen Golf and a Vauxhall Grandland, occurred at approximately 01:20 GMT on Staithes Road near the village of Preston, according to Humberside Police.
A 16-year-old boy died at the scene, while an 18-year-old man succumbed to his injuries later in the hospital. Among the Volkswagen passengers, a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy sustained life-threatening injuries. In the Vauxhall, a 62-year-old male passenger is also in critical condition.

The Vauxhall driver, a 34-year-old woman, suffered a serious arm injury, while two other passengers in her vehicle sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Volkswagen, whose age has not been disclosed, only sustained minor injuries.
Humberside Police confirmed that the families of the deceased and injured have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers. Investigators are now appealing for witnesses and any dashcam or CCTV footage that could help piece together the events leading up to the collision.
