A bronze sculpture, valued at around £60,000, has been stolen from the home of the celebrated artist who created it.
Essex Police have launched an investigation into the theft of the artwork, titled La Promesse, from Anne Curry Sculpture, located in Newland End, Arkesden, near Saffron Walden.
Stolen Artwork Details
The incident occurred between 5 and 6 December 2024. The sculpture, which stands at 1.57 metres high, 1.25 metres wide, and 1.55 metres long, was signed by the artist and is designed for placement in a canal or pond.
While the manufacturing value of the statue is estimated at £20,000, its sale price is approximately £60,000.
Ongoing Investigation
Essex Police confirmed that no arrests have been made, but they are pursuing several targeted lines of inquiry.
PC Glenn Simons, who is leading the investigation, expressed the impact of the theft on the artist and assured the public that all reasonable efforts would be made to recover the stolen sculpture.

PC Simons encouraged anyone with information about the theft or the whereabouts of La Promesse to come forward and assist with the investigation.
