The long-anticipated showdown between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn is set for April in London, according to Saudi boxing organiser Turki Alalshikh.
The bout could take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with 26 April being a potential date.
This highly charged all-British encounter was initially planned for October 2022, marking 29 years since their legendary fathers, Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr, faced off for the second time.
However, the fight was cancelled after Conor Benn failed a voluntary drug test, leading to a two-year battle with anti-doping authorities. Benn’s suspension was eventually lifted in November 2023.
Benn recently shared an image on social media of himself signing the fight contract alongside his promoter, Eddie Hearn, and Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, known for organising major boxing events. Hearn posted the same picture, calling the bout “the biggest fight in British boxing.”
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Alalshikh confirmed: “Eubank Jr vs Benn done in April, London.”
Eubank, aged 35, enters the fight as the favourite against 28-year-old Benn, who will move up from the welterweight division (147lbs) for the contest. While Benn has not fought on UK soil since 2022, he competed twice in the United States during his provisional suspension.
Despite his doping controversy, Benn has consistently denied intentionally taking performance-enhancing substances and will undergo testing by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) for this bout.
Eubank, a natural middleweight, has shown strong form with only one loss in his last nine fights, which he avenged in 2023 against Liam Smith.
Benn, meanwhile, boasts an unbeaten record of 23 wins, including 14 knockouts, but is yet to face opposition at the elite level.
The April fight promises to reignite the historic rivalry between the Benn and Eubank families, setting the stage for one of the most highly anticipated bouts in recent British boxing history.
