Britain has announced a significant new treaty with Ukraine, focused on military collaboration, technological advancements, and efforts to track stolen Ukrainian grain.
The pact, signed by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer during his visit to Kyiv, marks a deepening of ties between the two nations in their ongoing efforts to counter Russian aggression.
The agreement, which includes a fresh round of lethal military aid for Ukrainian forces, also highlights a broader cooperation in fields such as science, technology, agriculture, healthcare, and space.
Starmer emphasised that this pact is not just about the immediate conflict but an investment in both countries’ futures, reinforcing technological development, scientific innovation, and cultural exchanges.
He noted that Ukraine’s resilience and innovation in recent years will serve as a model for future generations.
In his statement, Starmer declared that Russian President Vladimir Putin had failed in his aim to “wrench Ukraine away from its closest partners.” Instead, Putin’s actions have only drawn Ukraine and its allies closer than ever.
Key aspects of the agreement include joint efforts on maritime security across the Baltic Sea, Black Sea, and Sea of Azov, as both nations work to deter Russian aggression.
The pact also sets the stage for enhanced collaboration on agricultural technology, healthcare, and space exploration.
In the ongoing conflict, Ukrainian military forces reported fresh attacks from Russian drones, which caused damage to agricultural infrastructure.
A farm in the Chernihiv region was hit, including a hangar storing corn, although no casualties were reported.
Additionally, drones destroyed by Ukrainian air defences caused damage to homes in Kharkiv and Poltava. Further drone, missile, and artillery strikes hit the Dnipropetrovsk region, killing one and injuring another.
Ukraine’s air force successfully intercepted 34 out of the 55 drones launched by Russia overnight, covering regions such as Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, and Zaporizhzhia.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Defence Ministry claimed to have destroyed 27 Ukrainian drones over Belgorod and surrounding areas.
