Detectives in Scotland are investigating the death of a 21-year-old man following a shocking street disturbance in the Foxbar area of Paisley, Renfrewshire.
The incident, which involved fireworks being recklessly aimed at individuals, occurred on Saturday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Maree Road and Lochbroom Drive around 4:15 pm. Despite their swift response, the man was discovered with serious injuries and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Scotland has described the death as “unexplained” and confirmed that the man’s next of kin have been informed.
A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault during the incident. He received medical treatment at a local hospital before being discharged. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Forensic teams and a police cordon remain in place as officers work diligently to piece together what occurred. Photographs from the scene show a police tent covering a car, indicating the area is being thoroughly examined for evidence.
Detective Inspector Euan McMillan assured residents that there is no wider threat to the public, stating, “Our inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident, however there is no threat to the wider public.
“Officers will remain in the area as inquiries are carried out and anyone with any concerns can approach them.”
