Rail passengers across South Wales are facing major disruption this afternoon after signalling failures caused widespread cancellations and delays on key routes operated by Transport for Wales.
Transport for Wales (TfW) has warned that services between Cardiff Central and Swansea are being heavily affected, with trains delayed by up to 60 minutes or cancelled entirely in both directions due to a signalling fault on the line.
The disruption is also impacting the route between Rhoose Cardiff International Airport and Bridgend, where services have been fully suspended.
TfW said: “Due to an issue with the signalling system between Cardiff Central and Swansea, services may be delayed by up to 60 minutes or cancelled in both directions.”
Passengers have been advised to check before travelling as disruption is expected to continue until at least 7pm, with knock-on delays likely across the wider South Wales rail network.
The issue is causing significant disruption for commuters and travellers, particularly on busy evening services between Cardiff, Swansea, and surrounding areas.
Transport for Wales has apologised for the inconvenience and says engineers are working to resolve the signalling problem as quickly as possible.
Passengers are being urged to allow extra time for journeys or seek alternative transport where possible while services remain unstable.
