Two Jewish men have been stabbed in north London in what is being treated as a suspected antisemitic attack, prompting a major investigation led by counter-terrorism officers.
The incident took place in Golders Green on Wednesday morning, amid heightened concerns following a series of recent attacks targeting Jewish communities in the capital.
Police Launch Counter-Terror Investigation
Officers from Metropolitan Police responded to reports of a stabbing shortly after 11am, with armed units and emergency services arriving at the scene in Highfield Avenue.
A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after being subdued with a Taser. Police confirmed the suspect also attempted to stab officers during the arrest but no officers were injured.
The investigation is being led by counter-terrorism detectives as authorities assess whether the attack was motivated by extremist ideology. Officials have not yet formally classified the incident as terrorism, but this remains under consideration.
Victims in Stable Condition After Attack
The two victims, one in his 70s and the other in his 30s, were treated at the scene before being taken to hospital, where both remain in stable condition.
Witnesses reported seeing the suspect armed with a knife in the area, with members of the Jewish neighbourhood security group Shomrim assisting before police intervention.
Volunteer emergency responders from Hatzola also provided immediate medical assistance to the victims.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the incident as “utterly appalling,” stating that attacks on Jewish communities are attacks on Britain as a whole.

The Community Security Trust and the Board of Deputies of British Jews said they were working closely with authorities to monitor the situation and support the affected community.
